Hit snooze, then hit it again. Great job, now it’s already 7:21 am. Cold shower, breakfast (but only if there’s time), then head to school or work. Of course, coming home after work or school isn’t always the best part of the day either- oftentimes there’s incomplete work we take home and finish while we quickly eat dinner- there’s so much more to do. And even if there isn’t something else we need to do, we somehow seem to be stuck in this routine, a mundane way of life. But, when the work is finally done we hope our favourite show is on TV, or a movie- or some of us might even pick up that book off the shelf we’ve been trying to find the time to finally start. Of course some of us have very different things we like to do in our free time- even create.
An artist is an artist, whether they paint with words, paint, crayons, or anything else. An artist is one who creates- and an artist lives within every single person. But most of us choose to ignore that very divine part of us- why? Because our lives are littered with other tasks. I’m not saying any of these tasks are bad however, they just tend to take up time that could be used to create something. “But why should we even use any of our free time to create?” I’ll tell you. Whether it’s a 300 word story, or a mini painting. We need to free that inner artist that lives within all of us- yes you, you reading this right now have an inner artist too.
Is there anything that pulls you out of your tedious or tiresome routine? Whether it’s a comfort TV show or movie, a book you love, or even a cafe you like to go to in your free time. Perhaps it’s video games, or cooking up something you love. All of these things have had an impact on you in some type of way, and these are all created by someone.
Artists put out their ideas in a way that no one other than they can. There are stories out there that need to be told, and these stories can only be put out there if you put your ideas into words and tell your stories the only way you can. People can try to steal your ideas, but only you can put the words on the page in the same way you can. Are there any issues you want to talk about? Lack of representation in the media, perhaps, or something else that somehow moves you? If you want to shed light on a story, or even a particular aspect of society that you think should be changed you can always create something that will help spread your ideas across. Write a story, draw a comic, SHARE your ideas with the world. They deserve to be out there.
There is creativity in every single one of us that is begging us to set it free. Inspiration is something you do, you do not wait for it, twiddling your thumbs. So do you have an idea? Put pen on paper and, at least, jot it down.
